AQUA MAJESTY |
|
| Description: | Fabric-FreeFormal Bead and Sequin Gown | |
| Designed By: | Gail Be, American, United States, 2004 | |
| Materials Used: | This floor-length, beaded gown and matching accessories are made of over 250,000 beads and sequins and took three people over seven months to complete. The beads used came from the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Japan and China. | |
| Fashion Facts: | I really wanted something that was ‘beauty queen meets movie star’ glamour. The tight fitting design was complicated and since all my designs have to be made directly onto live models we had over 85 hours just in fittings as we created this design not only "for" Heidi—but literally "on" her. | |
| Designer Insider: | This is the first maxi-length dress we made—which means it takes A LOT more beads to complete. It took me several years and over five countries to acquire all the beads needed to complete this beautiful—and very long dress. | |
| History: | The 24kt Venetian beads were each individually handcrafted by artisans that still use the original 800 year old technique. All the vintage Swarovski crystal beads used are in pristine condition and were manufactured in Austria between 1920 - 1938 and 1945 - 1954. To prove their authenticity, they were taking them directly from their original packages. They are being used for the very first time in this tribute to glamorous royalty. | |
